What is Achilles Tendon Repair?
Achilles tendon repair is an outpatient surgical procedure that repairs a torn Achilles tendon. The goal of this procedure is to repair the torn tendon as well as provide strength and stability to the ankle.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes about 1-1 ½ hours.
During this procedure:
An incision is made just above the heel and the torn tendon is exposed
Sutures are used to attach torn tendon ends
